Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche Mingyur Drakpa Senge was born in 1995 as the son of the most senior and great Karma Kagyu master Beru Khyentse Rinpoche.

He was recognized by the 17th Karmapa as the fourth incarnation of the great Jamgon Kongtrul Lodrö Thaye, a great scholar and meditator who lived in the 19th century and left an enormous legacy to all the lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1998 the Dalai Lama performed the hair-cutting ceremony for Jamgon Yangsi, as he is also known, in Bodhgaya. In 2000, Penor Rinpoche, then the head of the Nyingma sect, performed the enthronement ceremony for the 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and again confirmed Jamgon Yangsi as the authentic reincarnation of the great Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye.

In 2016, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje offered the red crown to the 4th Jamgon Kongtrul Mingyur Drakpa Senge, symbolizing him as a master of Buddha activity and holder of the Dharma transmissions of the Karma Kagyu Lineage.

The previous third incarnation, Lodro Chokyi Senge,  was very close to Lama Ole and Hannah Nydahl. He visited Diamond Way centers in the West for teachings and initiations and gave the Kagyu Ngagdzö empowerments in Denmark to Hannah and Lama Ole and their students in 1989. Unfortunately he passed away in 1992 at the age of 38.

In 2017 the 4th Jamgon Kongtrul visited the Diamond Way Buddhism Europe Center as well as other Diamond Way centers for teachings and empowerments at the request of Lama Ole.

From 2018 to 2022 he remained in retreat in order to practice and accomplish the main Kagyu transmissions in the traditional way.
